The 48th Annual ‘Head of the Charles Regatta’ rowing event that took place from October 20-21 on Boston’s Charles river enjoyed high-speed wireless broadband connectivity that was delivered by Towerstream, a 4G and Wi-Fi/small-cell network provider.

Fred Schoch, the Regatta’s executive director said, “The Head of the Charles attracts more than 300,000 spectators cheering on the 9,000 athletes participating in 55 race events each year. Because of the size and scale of our event, we really have to rely on a powerful and responsive internet connection. Partnering with Towerstream to ensure seamless connectivity was an easy choice for us. The Regatta is a world class event, and we need an internet connection delivering on that standard.”

The event’s very important race-timing system was stated to be powered by Towerstream wireless broadband connectivity. Towerstream not only helped in tracking each split station time and supplied accurate results in real time, it also enabled participants to calculate outcomes, organize award presentations and communicate effectively along the three mile course.

Towerstream claimed that it delivers reliable, high-speed Internet access seamlessly and securely at a lower cost than traditional providers. The company owns its entire network and does not rely on the phone company to deliver a fast install to businesses.

Using 4G technology, it delivers a wide variety of features including: speed scalability with bandwidth options ranging up to 1.5 Gbps; guaranteed 99.99 percent availability backed by a valid SLA; leverages multiple broadcast sites in several major cities to enable fast and simple installation; and more.

Towerstream expressed excitement in working with the Head of the Charles Regatta, the world’s largest rowing event. And everyone involved with the regatta enjoyed a strong and reliable wireless connection delivered to them from its broadband facilities.
