Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (MSPD) recently announced that China Mobile (News - Alert) Group (“CMCC”), Jiangsu Company, Ltd., Suzhou Branch has selected its baseband system-on-a-chip (SoC) for use in CMCC's TD-SCDMA small cells. By incorporating the Mindspeed SoC solution in its TC-SCDMA small cells, CMCC will effectively enhance the delivery of wireless access for both its residential and enterprise customers in Suzhou. Mindspeed Technologies (News - Alert) is a supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications. 

In a statement, Ms. Chen Wei, GM of the Suzhou Branch, said that, "We recognized the need for small cells as an enhancement to our macro network with the objective of providing a cost effective and significantly better wireless broadband access experience for our huge subscriber base in Suzhou. We have achieved our deployment target set in February much faster than originally planned. Customer service is foremost in our mind so enhancing our network with small cells to improve 3G Customer experience is a key to our success. Mindspeed provides the only commercially deployable SoC solution on the market that meets China's TD-SCDMA standard.”

The Mindspeed SoC solution has been designed to provide processing for the physical layer, MAC and layer 3 which is essential to ensuring a robust functional residential or enterprise small cell system. Additionally, Mindspeed also offers the physical layer software, while system OEMs such as Bravo Tech, Inc. (News - Alert), or Femtel, provide the upper layer software.

CMCC Suzhou Branch has established itself as an expert in small cell commercial deployments across China. It was at the forefront of the deployment model and completed the field trials successfully earlier this year.
