Is it really possible to simultaneously reduce network traffic and improve quality of experience when it comes to mobile content delivery? While some may argue that this will demand a lot of infrastructure investment and collaboration among service providers, Saguna Networks and Ubiquisys would not agree. The two companies have announced a joint collaboration that seeks to provide an integrated content and application acceleration solution on small cells. The joint solution is a combination of Ubiquisys’s (News - Alert) smart cell, intelligent 3G/4G/Wi-Fi small cell hotspots with Saguna Network’s Saguna CODS acceleration offering, both of which are integrated using the Intel (News In order to deliver the benefits of cloud computing on distributed networked devices, the solution is distributed and remotely provisioned through the Intel AppUp SMB Service that is built on the Intel Hybrid Cloud software platform. This platform enables the delivery of cloud computing on distributed networked devices. Speaking on the joint collaboration, the CEO of Saguna Networks, Lior Fite, said, “We are very happy to join forces with Ubiquisys, which has a well established customer base for its small cell solutions. Our joint solution delivers all of our product features in a constrained space and power environment and guarantees the best mobile broadband experience without the need for large investments.” The VP of Engineering and co-founder of Ubiquisys, Peter Keevil, was also excited about the joint solution, revealing that its success can be attributed to the concept of moving application processing resources closer to the mobile user at the network edge.
