mimoOn Supports Next Generation of SOCs from Texas InstrumentsFebruary 21, 2013

mimoOn is using its complete range of mi!SmallCell products to support the latest generation of Texas Instruments' (News The TCI6636 from Texas Instruments is ideal for ultra high-capacity small cell and 'green power' macro cell infrastructure applications. A licensor of LTE (News - Alert) Software IP for mobile devices & wireless infrastructure, mimoOn is raising the level of performance and quality of Small Cell solutions while lowering the barrier to entry for Small Cell product developers on a continuous basis. The company plans to make available the mi!SmallCell product family on the TCI6636 around the middle of the year. “Over the years of working with mimoOn, they have proven not only that they have world class LTE PHY software but also that they have unparalleled systems-level experience that has been quite valuable to Texas Instruments and our customers,” said Sameer Wasson, general manager, communications infrastructure, Texas Instruments. “We are pleased that mimoOn is going to expand its product portfolio on TI technology.” What works behind mi!SmallCell products is mi!SmallCellPHY, which effectively leverages the accelerators and processing power of the eight TI DSP cores in the TCI6636. The PHY connects with mi!SmallCellSTACK via the Small Cell Forum-defined interface. Several optional products and a professional services team complement the mi!SmallCellPHY and mi!SmallCellSTACK offering. These optional products are an advanced scheduler called mi!SmallCellSPECTRUM, an integrated Self-Organizing Network agent from Eden Rock Communications (News - Alert) called mi!SmallCellSON, and a test suite for validating small cell capabilities known as mi!SmallCellVeriPHY. "With this integrated PHY and stack solution for Texas Instruments' wireless infrastructure SoCs, mimoOn has established itself as the small cell software leader. We are aggressively investing in product evolution to keep our customers at the forefront of the LTE market," added Dirk Friebel, CEO at mimoOn. mimoOn recently partnered with Tensilica (News - Alert) to launch a new LTE and LTE-Advanced PHY library that will significantly accelerate the development of chips including Tensilica's ConnX BBE32 family of DSP (digital signal processor) IP cores.
